Signals can be transferred either over direct terminal connections, by induction through a transmitter coil or optionally with an induction signal attachment to underground metal pipes or cables.

Where required, the cable can be extended with two 15 m long attachments. The ST-510 has an inductance-dependent acoustic signal, a power-saving function with auto shutdown and an LCD display with automatic backlight to display line resistance, current flow and performance.
